Amanda Brugel

(February 27th of 2010 to Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a sleepy community on the part of Montreal that is known as"the West Island. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing to people unfamiliar to its significance. Many people believe that it's an island to the that lies west of Montreal however it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities in Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel's birthplace is frequently mentioned, but her brief stay wasn't. Brugel grew up in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. In the case of Brugel it was because of the advice of her drama teacher in high school who pushed her in the direction she wanted. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to go after a role in the annual school production. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the main character in Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. This led to the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program and graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than twenty years, and she's performed in more than 60 shows including big screen productions as well as smaller screens. Her most recognizable role was the one of Rita (pictured beneath) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian cast member in the season 1 of the series, and only seen occasionally.
